THE NIGHT OF THE ADEATERS is the online presence for the travelling film festival created by the Frenchman Jean Marie Boursicot in 1981. The festival is held in more than 160 cities and 47 countries every year.
The film festival was started to showcase works from Boursicot’s collection of advertising films. He calls his collection The Cinematheque. It is arguably the largest library on Earth dedicated solely to the preservation of advertising commercials. His collection goes beyond television commercials. For instance, the oldest film in the Cinematheque dates from 1898 and concerns a promotional document for SUNLIGHT soap. Boursicot claims to own more than 700,000 ad films, with an additional 25,000 more donated annually from advertising producers globally.
Night of the Adeaters is subscription-based Video On-Demand. The previous year’s film festival can be streamed in its entirety or as a four part series. Individual parts cost $3.99 each, while the whole event costs $11.99. Each of the four parts is an hour and thirty minutes long. The single event runs a whopping 6 hours, but there is good news. Subscriptions are good for one week. That means you don’t have to try and tackle the entire 6-pack in one sitting. Plus, by downloading the single event instead of the four parts, site surfers can save up to 25%. Viewed on Quicktime.
