ItīŋŊs that time of year folks. Are you ready for some fooootbaaaaallllllīŋŊ..ads?
ThatīŋŊs right, in the weeks leading up to Superbowl XLI, expect to see hints of the upcoming wacky ads scheduled to drop during the NFLīŋŊs biggest spectacle of the year. Badboy Internet domain hoster GoDaddy.com has already submitted its commercial to CBSīŋŊs office of Standards and Practices. ThereīŋŊs the snap, the hold, the kickīŋŊoh! ItīŋŊs blocked! GoDaddyīŋŊs first attempt is blocked!
“It was rejected because CBS thought [the original GoDaddy Girl] Candice Michelle was too steamy. Personally I don’t think Candice did or exposed anything you wouldn’t see at the local mall on any given afternoon–or more to the point, during any of the network’s normal programming,īŋŊ said GoDaddy CEO and founder Bob Parsons on his BobParsons.com website.
Superbowl advertising has evolved into such an event that some companies have even resorted to leaking them out, in advance, over the Internet.
Parsons denies any blatant attempts at increasing his companyīŋŊs visibility. īŋŊLast year I was accused of submitting ads to the network that I knew would be rejected, so I could garner free publicity. While it did take us 14 attempts to get an ad approved for last year’s Big Game, that wasn’t the case last year īŋŊ and it isn’t the case this year.īŋŊ Uh huh.
īŋŊTo demonstrate that we are not purposely submitting ads to be rejected, we will not make the rejects available until such time as we have approved ads in hand. Or until it seems there is little hope in getting one approved.īŋŊ
According to his website, Parsons and company are busy filming their second commercial attempt. Rumor has it that Kevin Rose of Digg.com and Cali Lewis of GeekBriefTV are scheduled to make cameos along with Indy racer Danica Patrick. ThereīŋŊs the snapīŋŊ
