This is a bummer, if you registered your domain name with RegisterFly.com, that is. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN, has begun the process of decertifying the troubled domain registrar.
According to documents obtained by SiteSurfin’, many RegisterFly.com customers experienced several problems including: the inability to renew their domain names before the names expired; and the inability to transfer those domain names to rival, accredited registration companies. Because of these problems, RegisterFly is in violation of ICANN regulations. And because of RegisterFly’s problems, ICANN is now reviewing its accredited registrar oversight process.
RegisterFly.com claims operational and financial problems to be the reasons behind its current crisis, but a thorough surf of the RegisterFly website by this intrepid reporter found no evidence of a public apology by company officials, nor any explanation of the steps it intends to take to fix the problems.
Beware, sitesurfers, beware!
