What issue matters most to you? What do you think about the politics of your neighborhood, your district, your state, your province, your country, your world? And what are you going to do about it?In an effort to help you do something about it, YouTube this week launched CitizenTube, “a channel designed to explore these questions and inspire more. As YouTube’s political video blog, Citizentube’s mission is to add fuel to the revolution that is YouTube politics.” And apparently to create a place where everyone, from users to candidates, has the same chance to be seen and to be heard.
This is YouTube’s second entry into politics as they have all ready-launched YouChoose the presidential channel, which features videos from the major presidential candidates such as Barack Obama, John McCain, Mitt Romney and many of the other current American presidential contenders.
Steve Grove, YouTube’s News and Political Editor will edit the channel. The channel will aggregate political videos that currently exist on the site as well as new user generated content. CitizenTube will differ greatly from YouChoose in that it will include the political views of every nation with Internet access. Grove also hopes to highlight political video links that users think deserve more attention. For instance, a recent video was posted advocating certified, professional midwife access for pregnant women in Alabama.
Let the best ideas win.
