What can I say? With a name like MidWestTeenSexShow.com, it has to be good…right?
As you can imagine, MidwestTeenSexShow.com has drummed up a fair amount of controversy since ballooning in popularity online. Unlike “Sex Is Fun”, another popular online, sex advice video podcast, the MidWestTeenSexShow production staff is not populated with sex professionals. Instead, principals behind it are a guy with a great name for a website and a dream, a 30-something single mother with lots of life experience, and free-for-all cast of character actors willing to impart practical sexual advice (tongues firmly in cheeks) to an otherwise jaded teenage population.
And that drives “legitimate” advisors nuts.
Which is precisely why MidwestTeenSexShow is so popular with teens. Contrary to naysayers who claim that “our youth” don’t get sarcasm, “our youth” are actually engaged by the topics at this site. Sometimes it’s not about book sense; it’s about common sense. And that’s what MWTSS delivers.
The topics range from dating to sex, drugs and alcohol to breakups to abstinence to homosexuality to “the first time”.
MidWestTeenSexShow.com is not for everyone. Frankly, I have to give it a DCD “M” for mature—language and content. That being said, I do think that everyone who has a teen-aged daughter or son should take the time to watch and listen to the messages in each video, and then do it again with their teens at their sides. And then discuss what was just streamed.
Behind the tongue-in-cheek delivery lies good information, that at the very least will provoke some good introspection by you, the parent, if not a some memorable conversations.
